Unbeaten streak continues for Bobcats

The Saddleback women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to 13 games on Tuesday with a 4-1 win at Fullerton College.  The Bobcats saw their shutout streak end, however, when Fullerton scored in the 70th minute.

Saddleback is on a collision course with Santiago Canyon College, who they play on Friday for control of the Orange Empire Conference.  First up was a little housecleaning against Fullerton College on Tuesday in Fullerton.

Saddleback scored early when Lizbeth De Loera found the net in the second minute off a pass from Kylie Beu for a 1-0 lead.  Eleven minutes later it was 2-0 when Beau scored off a pass from Averee Campos.   Alexa Livingstone then put the game on ice in the 16th minute with an unassisted goal, thus exterminating the Hornets' chances of getting back into the game.

De Loera (pictured) added her team-leading 14th goal of the season in the 49th minute as the Bobcats extended the lead to 4-0 shortly after the intermission.

Saddleback recorded 31 shots on the day and controlled play from beginning to end.   However, Fullerton snapped the Bobcat shutout streak in the 70th minute when Auburn Burnett found the net.  Saddleback had gone 547 minutes without giving up a goal.

Saddleback (14-1-3, 9-0-2) will be back in action on Friday when they host Santiago Canyon College (15-1-1, 10-0-1) with first place on the line.  The Bobcats and Hawks tied 2-2 at Santiago Canyon on October 11 in the opening round of conference play.  The teams are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
