OUTDUELING THE CORSAIRS

OUTDUELING THE CORSAIRS

The No. 1 FC men's basketball squad traveled to No. 12 Santa Monica College on Thursday night for non-conference battle and won it 76-66.

Defeating the Corsairs gives the Hornets a 4-1 record while playing three out of five of the top-ranked teams so far this season. The Santa Monica loss knocks the team down to 2-5 overall.

The Corsairs connected on the first shot of the game, a three-pointer by Raymond Watts, but that would be their only lead of the game as Fullerton quickly pulled ahead on a three by Godfrey Little. With the game tied up at 19 by the 6-minute mark, FC pulled slightly ahead 36-31 thanks to a three-point shot by Shawn Woodson to end the half.

At 16:00 in the second half, Fullerton jumped ahead 45-35 on another Godfrey Little trey. The Hornets kept the Corsairs at bay throughout most of the second half, until SMC hit a series of shots tying the game up (65-65) on a three-point play by Mike Hill with 3 minutes left. Unphased, Fullerton used the last minutes of the game to go on a 9-1 run pulling off a solid victory over a dangerous team.

Christian Watson was the scoring and rebound leader for FC with 20 points and 7 boards. Godfrey Little scored 15 points, Shawn Woodson put up 10 points, and Addy G'Bye dropped 9. Alex Archer chipped in with 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Up Next: The Hornets (4-1 overall) will hit the road again this Saturday, November 18th when they play at Moorpark College for another non-conference game. Tipoff is at 1:00 pm.
