
Cypress Chargers Women’s Basketball Dominates LA Southwest in Season Opener
Cypress Women's Basketball Defeated the LA Southwest Cougars, 127-4
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers women's basketball team made a powerful statement in their home opener, routing the LA Southwest Cougars 127-4 to kick off the season. The Chargers set the tone early, jumping to a 41-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and holding the Cougars scoreless through the entire first half, leading 78-0 at halftime.
Defensively, Cypress was relentless, racking up 66 steals and forcing numerous turnovers, resulting in an astonishing 102 points off turnovers. The Chargers' defense held LA Southwest to their first points with only six seconds remaining in the third quarter, by which point Cypress had already hit 103 points.
The Chargers' offense was equally potent, shooting 51.9% from the field and displaying balanced contributions across the roster. Chelsea Caldera led all scorers with 23 points, while Christaesha Jackson dominated the boards with 14 rebounds. Mariah Henderson added six steals, and Kalysa Ng distributed five assists to keep the Chargers' offense in sync.
This lopsided victory showcased the Chargers' depth as they look forward to a promising season.
