VALLEY GLEN – Coming off a tournament championship last week, the City College of San Francisco women's basketball team endured a tougher time, going 1-2 this past weekend at the Buddy's All-Star Classic at Los Angeles Valley College.

The tourney started well with the No. 8 state-ranked Rams cruising to a 71-50 victory over Fullerton College on Thursday. But that was followed by a narrow 66-61 loss to host LA Valley on Friday, and a 61-56 defeat at the hands of No. 18 state-ranked Long Beach City College to close out the event on Saturday.

CCSF put the game out of reach early against Fullerton, going out in front 22-8 after the first quarter. Madison Thomas had a solid game, posting a double-double with game-highs of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Deadriana Prim came off the bench to contribute 15 points and 8 boards while Deonna Mayfield added 12 points and 7 rebounds.

A late-game rally came up just short against LA Valley on Friday. The Rams trailed for most of the contest but were able to get within one point at 62-61 after a bucket by Thomas with 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter. But the Monarchs responded with a clutch jumper with 18 seconds to go and the Rams missed a pair of three-pointers over the final seconds of the game.

Thomas had another big game despite the loss, grabbing a season-high 20 rebounds to go with 12 points. Aaliyah Dias led CCSF with 16 points and Prim added 13 points.

The Rams closed the event with a tough loss to Long Beach as they couldn't hold a lead to start the fourth quarter. Dias put up 20 points for the second straight game while Thomas was a bucket shy of a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

CCSF suffered just its second and third losses of the season to fall to 7-3 overall after the weekend. The Rams are back in action on Thursday (Dec. 14) when they open the three-day Golden Gate Classic tournament. CCSF is set to host Santa Rosa at 5 p.m.
