Cypress 3-1 Victory In First-Ever Pride Game

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress College Athletics celebrated National Coming Out Day at the women's soccer game with over 50 fans in attendance. The Chargers (8-1-1, 4-1 OEC) successfully defended their home field, earning a 3-1 victory over the visiting Santa Ana Dons (1-7-2, 1-4 OEC).

Cypress women's soccer team got off to an early lead against the Dons with the opening goal scored by Carisia Raygoza, 1-0. 

Cypress continued to dominate possession in the second half. In the 59th minute, Samantha Armenta scored off a defensive player deflection. 

Then, the game was paused and delayed an hour due to lightning.

After the hour delay, both teams continued to compete and the Dons scored their first goal at the 73rd minute, 2-1. 

It was Sophomore, Jassmin Ortiz who scored the penalty kick for the Chargers final goal, 3-1. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers look to continue their three game win streak as they take on the Orange Coast Pirates at Orange Coast on Friday, October 14th. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
