COD Men’s Soccer grabs huge road win over Dons for first win of 2024, 3-0

COD (1-2) grabbed their first win of 2024 in a clean sheet victory on the road at the Santa Ana Dons (0-2), 3-0.

It was only the second victory in program history over the Dons, both wins occurred in Santa Ana, improving the overall record to 2-3-1.

Freshman goal keeper Samuel Guzman (Beaumont H.S.) collected his first clean sheet of the season, making four saves in his first win of the year. Freshman midfielder Hector Baltierra (La Quinta H.S.) got the scoring off on the right foot as he found the back of the net in the 12th minute, to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead. In the 29th minute, freshman forward Juan Urtiz (Thermal Coachella Valley) connected with freshman defender Rigoberto Morales (Thermal Coachella Valley) for his first goal of the season, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage. In the 61st minute, Baltierra found freshman forward Carlos Villalta (Thermal Desert Mirage) for his first goal of the season giving Desert a 3-0 lead.
