Bobcats dig deep in the sand

Bobcats dig deep in the sand

The Saddleback beach volleyball team picked up a win with a 3-2 victory against Santa Ana College on Friday at the Great Park in Irvine.  The Bobcats battled back to win the final two matches in winning their first match of the season.

Saddleback picked up one win before the match even started as Santa Ana didn't have enough players to play on court five.  The Bobcats then fell behind 2-1 after Santa Ana picked up wins on courts one and three for a 2-1 advantage.

Saddleback dug deep, winning on court four to tie the match and make the battle on court two for all the marbles.  The Bobcats were in trouble after falling behind 1-0 after dropping the first set 21-16.  The duo of Sydney Brown and Logan Daniels (pictured) then battled back for a comfortable 21-14 win in set two to tie the score at 1-1.  The team match came down to set three in a race to 15.  The two teams would have to go longer, as neither team could break away from the other.  Saddleback ended up outlasting Santa Ana 21-19 in what was clearly the most grueling pairs match of the season.

Saddleback is now 1-3 on the season.  The Bobcats are scheduled to play St. John's River State College (FL) later in the afternoon.
