Tigers and Rustlers Only Manage One Game Before Rain Comes
Riverside City College and Golden West College managed to get one game in today with the other and will close out the final game of the Orange Empire Conference series next week.
The Tigers fell 7-1 in the first game but were up 4-2 in the top of the third when a rain delay hit.
RCC matched Golden West's five hits in the opener but could only send one runner home. Rebeca Razo (2-for-3) and Alysse Flores (2-for-4) each had a pair of hits, while Jocelyn Romero also had a hit for the Tigers.
After finding itself trailing 2-0 after two complete innings, Flores drove Ruby McDonald home in the top of the third to cut the deficit in half.
It was all the Rustlers would allow for the Tigers, however, as the home team struck again in the bottom of the third, fourth and six innings to seal the result.
RCC (6-13, 2-3 OEC) has a pair of nonconference games next week, taking on East Los Angeles College on Monday at 4 p.m. on the road before hosting Mt. San Jacinto College on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Tigers then go back to the Rustlers (15-2, 2-0 OEC) on Wednesday to pick up where they left off in the nightcap.
