
Volleyball keeps pace
The Saddleback women's volleyball team kept pace with the leaders in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with a 3-0 victory over Cypress College on Friday night inside the gymnasium. The Bobcats are tied for first place through the opening round of conference play.
Saddleback seemed to start slowly in every set but ended up rallying every time to sweep the Chargers. The biggest comeback was in set two when the Bobcats fell behind 7-0 to start but rallied for a 25-21 victory.
Saddleback had a solid night from Lulu Utterback, who finished 25-of-55 on kill attempts for a .309 kill percentage. Sophie Vienna was her normal self, dishing out 37 assists while digging out 11 balls on defense. Brynn Craig-Kromm led the team with 13 digs while Cori Willcoxson had a solid night overall, finishing with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Saddleback's win has them at 11-4 overall and 7-1 in OEC play. The Bobcats are in a tie for first place with Orange Coast College and Riverside City College through the opening round of conference play.
Saddleback continues conference play on Friday when it hosts Golden West College. The Bobcats and Rustlers are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM inside the gymnasium.
