Renegades open season 2-0 at home Ohlone Classic

FREMONT – The 2024-25 Ohlone College men's basketball season got off to a great start as the Renegades won both its games at their home tournament, the Ohlone Classic.

Head coach Jordan Lee's squad opened the weekend with a narrow 83-81 win over Shasta College on Friday and followed that on Saturday with a 98-82 victory over Orange Coast College.

Sophomore Michael Fastion came up big for the Renegades in the win over Shasta. With the score tied 81-81 with 12.7 seconds left in the game, Fastion sank a pair of free throws that proved to be the game-winner.

Shasta had a chance to win it but missed a pair of three-pointers on its final possession.

Fastion led the Renegades with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Amos Hodgson totaled 14 points, 3 steals, and a pair of blocks. Wesley Burns added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals while Anthony Lacy posted 10 points and 5 rebounds. Omar Babikir contributed 5 points and 6 assists.

On Saturday, it was Adam Zamai with the big game to help lead the Renegades to the win over OCC as he scored a team-high 20 points.

Hodgson had 16 points and 4 steals while Ashton Proctor also score 16 points to go with 6 boards. Gabriel Lopez posted a double-double with 12 points and a team-leading 15 rebounds. Lacy totaled 9 points and 4 boards, and Babikir had a solid all-around game with 6 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals.

Ohlone, now 2-0, is back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 5) when the Renegades travel to College of Marin for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
