HOT START - COLD FINISH

In an Orange Empire Conference match, the Hornets hosted Irvine Valley College on Friday and tied the Lasers 3-3.

After scoring three early goals in what looked like a potential blow-out, Fullerton cooled off in the second half letting IVC back in the game.

OEC goal leader Misael Gonzalez scored his 10th and 11th goals in the first seven minutes of the game. The assists came from Aldo Ramirez and Hayden Kenny.

In the 11th minute, Neil Sanchez got in on the action kicking in unassisted shot into the back of the net.

The Lasers put up their first goal near the 30-minute mark on a shot by Ivan Lopez. With just over a minute left in the first half, Lopez hit paydirt on another goal putting IVC back in the game.

The second half was a back-and-forth struggle with both teams playing tough and physical defense. As the time began to wind down it looked as if the Hornets would hold on for its ninth overall win, but with just over a minute left in regulation Irvine Valley bumped the ball near the FC goal causing confusion. As the ball bounced around lost in the mix of players from both teams, IVC's Grant Miller found the ball from eight feet out and booted it in for the game tying goal.

Up Next: Fullerton (8-1-1 overall, 1-0-1 OEC) plays at OEC rival Santa Ana College on Tuesday, October 3rd at 3:00 pm.
