TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College and Golden West battled to a 2-2 draw Friday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at the ECC Soccer Field.
The Warriors (2-4-1) got goals from reserves Oliva Farias and Natalie Vargas while the Rustlers (1-2-4) had tallies from Samantha Escobar and LaNell Swain.
Each team held a one-goal lead at one point but could not hold onto it. The Rustlers scored first as Escobar sent a free kick from 35 yards out into the far post and past Warriors keeper Karlee Clark to make it 1-0.
In the 35th minute, Farias evened up the score as she pounced on a rebound of a Sierra Rangel header that hit the crossbar and beat the Rustlers defense to tie things up at 1-1.
In the second half, the Warriors struck quickly as Vargas took a pass from Angelica Taylor and deposited into the back of the net for a 2-1 ECC lead.
But the Rustlers answered in the 72nd minute as Swain scored off a throw-in from Alyssa Mendoza to make it 2-2 and that is the way it stayed.
The teams both got their attempts off as Golden West edged ECC in shots, 14-13, with a 9-7 edge in shots on target.
Clark made seven saves in net for ECC as her record moved to 2-4-1.
The Warriors will return to action on Friday, October 1 as they host Pasadena in their final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
