Riverside used a couple of key three-set wins to vault past visiting SBCC 6-3 on Friday in a non-conference men's tennis match.
Miles Clash edged Andres Decock at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-4 and David Garcia pulled out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 decision over Dominic Mariscal at No. 5 singles.
Riverside is 2-0 and the Vaqueros are 0-2.
"We lost a couple of tough 3-setters at No. 2 and No. 5," noted SBCC coach Chris McBride. "And we had to give up two points because we only had five players.
"All in all, it was a good match considering. Jakob Rinschen and Ronan Casteleyn both won in singles and doubles."
The Vaqueros will open WSC action on Tuesday when they host Ventura at 2 p.m.
