Rain Delay Doesn't Slow Riverside Down
After rain halted the game in the top of the third last Friday, Riverside City College and Golden West College closed out the remaining innings Wednesday afternoon with the Tigers grabbing an 8-4 victory.
RCC improves to 8-14 on the year and 3-3 in Orange Empire Conference action, while the Rustlers drop to 16-3 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Rain stopped the game with Riverside holding a 4-2 lead in the top of the third, but the Tigers came back fired up and scored four more runs in the third to jump out to an 8-2 lead.
With two outs and bases loaded, Jocelyn Romero (2-for-5) tripled to center field, sending all three baserunners home. Carissa O'Neil (2-for-4) followed with her own triple, giving RCC a ton of momentum in the second half of the game.
Golden West tried to battle back and scored one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but RCC held on for the 8-4 victory.
The Tigers are back home to host Mt. San Antonio College on Friday at 2 p.m.
