
The Golden West College men's volleyball team continued their dominant start to the season with a commanding 3-0 victory over the visiting Moorpark College Raiders on February 5, 2025, at Golden West. The Rustlers improved to 3-0 with set wins of 25-20, 30-28, and 25-18.
Golden West showcased a balanced attack, hitting an impressive .348 for the match. Kai Rodriguez and Aidan Powell led the way with 12 kills each, both posting hitting percentages above .475. John Braunstein contributed five kills while also facilitating the offense with 31 assists. Defensively, Braunstein and Joseph Nunez led with eight digs apiece.
Moorpark College (1-1) put up a strong fight in the second set, pushing Golden West to 30 points. Jacob Knudsen and Tyler Linville carried the offensive load for the Raiders with 13 and 14 kills, respectively. Despite a solid .405 hitting percentage in the second set, Moorpark struggled to maintain efficiency throughout the match, finishing with a .236 hitting percentage overall.
Golden West capitalized on their efficient hitting, as well as strong blocking, recording 12 block assists as a team. The Rustlers also kept their errors low, committing only 10 attacking errors across three sets.
With this win, Golden West remains unbeaten and will look to carry their momentum into their next match on the road on Friday, February 7 at Santa Barbara City College.
