SOCAL REGIONAL FINISH

SOCAL REGIONAL FINISH

The No. 8 seeded FC women's water polo team finished its season on Thursday morning after falling to No. 9 Orange Coast College 12-7 in the Southern California Regionals.

After beating Orange Coast last week 11-10 at the Orange Empire Conference Championships, the Pirates had a bit of a chip on their shoulder sliding past Fullerton in the second quarter with a 6-4 lead. OCC held the Hornets scoreless in the third quarter while pushing its lead to 8-4. Three FC goals by Payton Baughman (1) and Elyse Weske (2) in the fourth quarter were not enough to catch the Pirates, who advances to the next round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs.

Despite their struggles with an overall record of 10-23 this season, it was still a good season for the Hornets. The team is young and has a ton of upside beating some tough teams to earn a spot in the SoCal Regionals.

Next season will be a great one as this program has proven in the past that it can flat-out win under head coach Gabriel Martinez.
