All systems Green against Lasers

The Saddleback women's soccer team defeated Irvine Valley College, 8-0, on Tuesday inside the Saddleback Stadium.  Freshman Chloe Green had a hat trick in the win as the Bobcats outshot the Lasers 38-0.

Green lit the lamp three times on Tuesday.  She scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute to give Saddleback a 3-0 lead in the opening half.  Green then scored back-to-back goals in the 47th and 50th minutes of the game to give the Bobcats a 6-0 lead.  It was the first hat trick of the season for Saddleback and gave Green nine goals for the year.

Green is now tied for the team lead in goals with Lizbeth De Loera, who scored two of her own on Tuesday.  De Loera scored the second goal of the game in the 20th minute off a pass from Averee Campos and opened the scoring in the second half for a 4-0 lead off a feed from Campos in the opening minute of the second half.  Campos finished with three assists on the afternoon and now has a team-leading six assists for the year.

Saddleback had other goals from Lacy Ruston (3), Abby Grabowski (5) and Leila Patopoff (1).

Saddleback outshot Irvine Valley 38-0 for the game.  The Bobcats had 21 shots on goal as the Lasers were rarely on the offensive zone.  Olivia Wynn started in goal and picked up her fourth win of the season.  Jamie-Lynne Clark played the second half for the Bobcats.

The eight goals on Tuesday were the most in a game this season by Saddleback and the most since the Bobcats scored 10 against Mt. San Jacinto last September.  With the win, Saddleback ran its unbeaten streak to nine games on Tuesday.  The Bobcats are 8-0-1 during that stretch.

Saddleback (11-1-2, 6-0-1) finishes the first half of the conference schedule in a tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference with Santiago Canyon College (11-1-1, 6-0-1).  The Bobcats will host Orange Coast College (10-3-2, 3-3-1) on Friday at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
