The Hornet women's basketball team hosted Copper Mountain on Wednesday night and brought down the Fighting Cacti 56-32.
FC took control of the game in the second quarter grabbing a 10-point lead that was capped off by a layup by Bri Landeros at 7:57. From there, the Hornets did not look back pushing their lead to 18 by the halftime break 26-8.
Fullerton continued to run the floor with Copper Mountain's five players taking its largest lead of 24 deep into the fourth quarter that Jessica Jones topped off with a nice jumper (assist by Tia Jaquias).
The Hornets owned the paint with 64 rebounds to CMC's 40 and outscored their opponent 36-8 from shot in the paint (23-5 on second chance points).
Coming off the bench leading all scorers was FC's Jessica Jones with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Angela Zendejas locked down a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Tia Jaquias put up 10 points with 7 rebounds, while Bri Landeros had 7 points with a season-high 16 rebounds. Emily Alvarado contributed 6 points and 5 boards.
