Garcia’s Singles Win Clinches Victory Over Fullerton

The Riverside City College men's tennis team entered into an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown against the Fullerton College Hornets with identical records and looked to leap over them in the conference standings. It was a tight match throughout the day, but a victory from freshman David Garcia on the final match handed the Tigers a 5-4 victory.

It was an epic battle with Garcia sealing the deal as the number five singles player. He worked to a 7-5, 7-5 victory. Sophomore number one Miles Clark carried his solo match into three sets, but reigned supreme by the final scores of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Gleb Mityurin backed him as the number two with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. The two teamed up in doubles and earned a 8-1 victory, acting as Riverside's lone doubles win.

Freshman Ayrton Aviles chipped in with a 6-1, 6-1 win as the number six.

Riverside (6-4, 1-3 OEC) will take a brief hiatus from conference play and travel to Palomar College for a non-conference contest. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
