The Saddleback men's soccer team defeated San Diego City College, 5-1, on Tuesday in San Diego. The Bobcats have now won three straight games.
Saddleback and San Diego City started the day by changing venues after air quality in South Orange County became unplayable in the previous 24 hours due to fires in the area. The Bobcats then went to San Diego and heated up the offense on the road. Saddleback scored a season-high five goals, which tied the third most goals in program history.
Saddleback scored the opening goal in the 15th minute when Andrew Jun slammed home a feed from Sepand Soutehkashan for a 1-0 lead. The duo then repeated the feat to open the second half as the Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the 50th minute. Saddleback extended the lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute when Gus Roetcisoender scored off a pass from Alejandro Gonzalez.
San Diego City scored its lone goal moments later when Elijah White scored to cut the lead to 3-1. The Bobcats responded with two more goals in the 35 minutes. Gonzalez netted his second goal of the season off a pass from Joel Smith in the 70th minute. Tyler Petersen finished off the scoring off a pass from Jason Starcks.
Dominic DiFrenna started in goal and played 70 minutes before leaving with a big lead. Tyler Bourbonnais played the final 20 minutes in goal.
Saddleback is now 3-1 overall on the season. The Bobcats will try to extend their winning streak to four games next Friday when they host Norco College. The Bobcats and Mustangs are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM on September 20.
