Cassidy Paperny- Golden West College

Full Name: Cassidy Paperny

Sport: Women's Volleyball

Who got you into volleyball and when did you start playing?

I have two older sisters that played volleyball. Watching them play at a D1 level really inspired me and started my love for volleyball. I was on my first club team when I was nine years old.

If you weren't playing volleyball what other sport would you want to play at the college level?

I would probably give softball a try. Softball is another huge family sport. I’m the only one that never played in a softball league.

What makes Coach Lawler the type of coach you love to play for?

He always pushes me to do my best. Since the first day I stepped foot in the gym, he has pushed me to be the best player I could be. He has taught me so much about the game and my position.

What are you majoring in and what's your favorite class?

I’m majoring in child development. I would love to be a kindergarten teacher or teach the younger elementary students.

What is your perfect pre-game meal?

Chipotle! We have one right around the corner from our campus.

Walk us through your pre-game warm up.

We do serving and a lot of ball handling drills. After we will do mini games to 5 make sure everyone is warmed up and ready to go.

What are the first 3 songs on your pre-game playlist?

Our warm up playlist changes every week, but whatever pumps the team up the most!

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?

On my free time I love to help out with my assistant coach’s club team, OHANA Volleyball Club. It’s a lot of fun teaching kids how to play and love the game.

Who on the team are you closest with?

I’m close with everyone on the team so just choosing one person would be hard.

What is your leadership style?

I’m a huge believer in positive energy. I love to pump my team up and make sure everything on the court goes smoothly.

Once you're done at Golden West, what do you want to be remembered as?

I want to be remembered as a very successful hitter for Golden West.

What is the plan once you graduate?

I plan on continuing my volleyball career. After getting my bachelor’s degree, I want to start working on my masters so I have a lot more options when I become a teacher.

What do you want to say to the fans who have watched you play during your time at Golden West?

Thank you for taking the time to come out and support the team this season!
