Orange Coast College Wins OEC Championship with Four Runners in Top-5

IRVINE - With four of the top-five finishers coming across the finish line, Orange Coast College claimed the 2013 Orange Empire Conference Championship held at Irvine Regional Park. The Pirates were followed by Fullerton College and Riverside City College to round out the top-three with Santa Ana College claiming fourth place ahead of Santiago Canyon College in fifth place.

Karen Silvas of Orange Coast won the individual championship with her teammates Raeanna Cortez and Leanne Allen finshing second and third, respectively. Golden West College's Cynthia Torres broke up the all-Pirate finish as she came in fourth place, just ahead of OCC's Guadalupe Cantoran.

Rounding out the top-10 was Chloe Reeves of Santiago Canyon College, Maegan Garritson and Daisy Esparza of Fullerton College, Allison Nagel from OCC and Marissa Jimenez of Riverside City College.

The Pirates finished with a total of 20 points as a team, well ahead of Fullerton's 55 points. The closest finish of the day was between Riverside with 101 points and Santa Ana with 105 points.
