2014 Water Polo OEC Championships – Day 2 Results

 Huntington Beach, Calif. - The women's teams took to the water for day two of the Orange Empire Conference Championships. Congratulations to the women of Riverside and Fullerton, as they will advance to the Championship game at 3:10pm on Saturday.

The day got under way with narrow victory for Orange Coast College. The Pirates sank Saddleback 8-6, holding them scoreless for the second and third quarter. For the Pirates, Katelyn Hansen lead the offensive with three goals, with five teammates chipping in a goal a piece.

Next, host Golden West edged out Cypress 5-4 in the last minutes of game play. Angelyse Sanchez found the back of the net with the go ahead goal with just under two minutes left in the game. Cypress's Amiee Espey lead the charge for  Cypress College with two goals.

Fullerton advanced to the championship game after defeating Orange Coast in a decisive 13-5 victory. The Hornets were lead by Angelica Hernandez, who put up four goals. Destiny Hernandez and Grace Schade netted three and two goals respectively.

The Riverside Tigers came out with a 20-9 win over Golden West. Riverside swam away with the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Rustlers 5-1.  The Riverside's Nikki Bell turned out to be the team's top Tiger, scoring a total of nine goals in the contest.

The first game for the women will be at 9:50am, with Saddleback and Cypress playing for 5th & 6th place, followed by Orange Coast and Golden West at 12:30pm.  The championship game will be the last game of the day where Fullerton and Riverside will square off at a 3:10 pm start.
