OCC Claims First Conference Title Since 2009, Packer Named MVP

The Orange Coast Pirates earned their first Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championship since 2009, marking the 11th in program history after finishing with a 15-1 record in conference play. 

Sophomore setter Jordan Packer led the way for the Pirates, posting 512 assists, 119 digs, 47 kills and 33 aces in conference action. She was named OEC MVP while four of her teammates were voted onto All-OEC teams.

Nika Safavi and Caprie Troccoli made first team All-OEC while Kennedy Cutler and Abigail Brown got the second team nod. 

Coming in second was Saddleback College as the Bobcats closed the OEC season with a 13-3 record. The Saddleback has had identical records for the last two seasons thanks to a mix of freshmen and sophomore standouts. 

Freshman setter Sophie Vienna had a stellar season to start her collegiate career as she led the OEC in assists at 591 to go with 168 digs. She was named to the All-OEC first team along with her teammate Delaney Wilson. Brynn Craig-Kromm and Cori Willcoxson earned second team honors for the Bobcats. 

Riverside City had their best OEC season in program history, going 11-5 for a third place finish. Head Coach Clara Lowden was named OEC Coach of the Year. 

RCC also saw Kilyn Hayes and Alyssa Bishop take spots on the All-OEC first team while Tabitha Irish and Jaeda Whitmire were placed on the second team.

The Cypress Chargers took fourth place at 10-6 and saw the duo of Zoe Ziegler and Andrea Briseno earn all-conference honors. 

Irvine Valley finished right behind them, taking fifth at 9-7. The Lasers had Audrey Fowler and Hailey Oldham take home All-OEC honors. 

Following behind that was Golden West, Santiago Canyon, Santa Ana and Fullerton, who all earned two all-conference spots each.
