Irvine Valley women's volleyball was nearly flawless on their way to a third consecutive Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championship, finishing with a 16-0 record in OEC play and sweeping all but two of their opponents.
The Lasers were led by their sophomore duo, Kristin Austin and Lea Kruse, who were named OEC Co-Most Valuable Players while Coach Tom Pestolesi took home another Coach of the Year award.
In the race for second place, Cypress, Fullerton and Orange Coast battled down to the wire and ended in a three-way tie with all three finishing 11-5 in OEC play.
Golden West placed fifth with an 8-8 record, doing just enough to secure a play-in bid to the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs.
Rounding out the OEC standings were Riverside and Saddleback followed by Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon.
