Women's Volleyball: Cypress Chargers Crowned OEC Champions

CYPRESS, CA – After closing out the regular season with a 5 set victory over Golden West (25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9), the Chargers were crowned Orange Empire Conference Champions for the first time since 2010 on Wednesday night.

The Cypress College women's volleyball team finished the regular season with a 22-2 overall record and a 15-1 record in conference play. The 2016 Chargers are the fifth team in program history to post 20 wins in a season and the first to win 15 conference matches. Cypress dominated OEC opponents this season, winning 46-of-55 sets played with 11-of-16 matches resulting in 3-0 sweeps.

No. 5 Cypress, No. 7 Golden West, No. 8 Saddleback, and No. 14 Irvine Valley will represent the OEC in the the first round of the Southern California Regionals on Tuesday, November 22. No. 18 Riverside will participate in the play in round on Saturday, November 19.
