Pirates take care of business with 7-2 win over host Tigers

RIVERSIDE -- It's never an easy place to play, but the Orange Coast College women's tennis team headed out to Riverside City College and notched a 7-2 Orange Empire Conference win over the host Tigers on Tuesday afternoon.

Coast (8-0, 2-0 in OEC) took care of business in singles play, winning five of the six matches played. Miri Inoue led the way with a 6-0, 6-1 win, followed by Shayee Sherif (6-0, 6-0), Nicole Knickerbocker (6-0, 6-2), Claire Boettcher (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) and Shannon Stone (2-6, 7-6, 7-5).

The Pirates continued their fine play into doubles, where the teams of Inoue/Knickerbocker (8-2) and Sherif/Mason (8-4) topped the teams from RCC, giving the Tigers their first loss of the season (5-1, 0-1).

Coast will return to action on Thursday at home against Saddleback, beginning at 2 p.m.
