Pirates Sweep Orange Empire Conference Honors

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team collected plenty of accolades at last week's Orange Empire Conference postseason meeting.

Coast swept all three honors bestowed upon women's tennis as the Pirates finished the regular season as co-champions of the OEC and are hosting the Southern California Regional Dual Team finals on Saturday against Santa Monica City College, beginning at 12 p.m.

Sophomore standout Clarisa Colling, last year's OEC Singles Player of the Year, was named for the same honor this year. Colling, last year's State Freshman of the Year, has gone 19-1 in singles play this year for the Pirates. For her two-year career, Colling is an incredible 39-3 in singles and is heading into the Southern California Regional Tournament seeded No. 3 overall.

In doubles, Colling and teammate Karen Trinh, were named the OEC Doubles Team of the Year. This dynamic duo for the Pirates is 19-2 in doubles play and are heading into Southern California Regional action ranked No. 3.

Head coach Chris Ketcham was named the 2017 Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Pirates to a 17-2 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark.  The second-year head coach of the women's program has been named Coach of the Year in both of his seasons as the Pirate skipper and he was also named Co-Coach of the Year in 2008 as the head coach of the men's tennis program.
