Saddleback Qualifies For State Tournament

The Saddleback women's golf team will represent the Orange Empire Conference in this weekend's CCCAA women's golf state championship tournament which will be contested on Sunday and Monday, November 11-12, on the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Saddleback, which recently captured its third consecutive Orange Empire Conference title, finished fourth out of nine teams at the CCCAA South Regional championship event held Sunday and Monday, November 4-5, at the Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang.  The Gauchos posted a team score of 664 (329-335) over two days, falling from second place to fourth place, but held on to earn the region's final spot in the state championship tournament.  Brittney Do (pictured) led the Gauchos with a 148 (72-76), finishing third overall in the field of 56 golfers.

Mt. San Antonio (722) and Fullerton (728) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, but missed making the cut to attend the state championship as a team.  Three members of the Orange Empire Conference have qualifield as individuals for the state championship, headed by Irvine Valley College freshman Katie Stribling at 154 (78-76).  Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon posted a two-day score of 156 (75-81) while Mt. San Antonio's Mackenzie Kelly posted a 164 (80-84) to earn the last individual spot from the South Regional into the state championship tournament.

College of the Canyons (603), College of the Desert (647), and Santa Barbara City College (659) will join Saddleback to represent Southern California at the state championship.  Four teams and six individual qualifiers from Northern California have yet to be decided.
