Gauchos Top Team at Tustin Ranch

Gauchos Top Team at Tustin Ranch

Saddleback extended its lead in the Orange Empire Conference standings this week by winning the conference match hosted by Irvine Valley at the Tustin Ranch Golf Course despite shooting a season-high score of 363.

As temperatures reached the mid-80's on Wednesday, average scores went higher than that as many of the players struggled with the Tustin Ranch layout. Saddleback's Brittney Do shot a 79 to finish as the individual runner-up on the day and led the Gauchos to the team win but Saddleback had to use four scores in the mid-90's to round out the team score.

Irvine Valley finished second on its home course with a team score of 371, dropping one more win behind Saddleback in the team standings. Kylie Sok (pictured) was the individual medalist with a 5-over-par score of 77. The Lasers benefitted from Vera Yuan's 83 but had to use one score in the mid-90's along with a triple-digit score. Fullerton placed third in the team finish with a 391 score. Kaylee Jeon posted an 81 and Gwen Bates rolled in with an 88. Mt. San Antonio's Mackenzie Kelly posted an 85 but neither Mt. SAC nor Orange Coast had enough players finish to earn a team score.

All five OEC teams will participate in the final regular-season match at Arroyo Trabuco on Wednesday (Oct. 25) as Saddleback hosts. The OEC Championship will be played at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills in a two-day, 36-hole event being played on Monday (Oct. 30) and Wednesday (Nov. 1). Both rounds are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
