Rina Tomihari Leads Saddleback to Second Place Finish

Saddleback College sophomore Rina Tomihari posted a 4-over-par 75 to capture individual medalist honors during the third OEC event of the season which was held on the Oak Creek Golf Club course in Irvine.

College of the Desert won the team competition for the third time to remain unbeaten on the season and increase its lead in the conference standings.  The Roadrunners posted a team score of 332.  Saddleback finished second with a team score of 345, edging out Fullerton (347), Irvine Valley (349), and Palomar (352).

Saddleback's placfinish caused a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings as Mt. San Antonio, Palomar, and Saddleback each have 13 wins.  Desert leads the team standings with 24 wins while Irvine Valley (19 wins) and Fullerton (17 wins) remain in pursuit.

Fumika Matsumoto of College of the Desert finished second individually with a 76 while Leleaga Meredith of Irvine Valley was third with an 81.

OEC play resumes on September 24 at the Diamond Bar golf course.
