Migliorini Selected to Jump-start Golden West Women's Basketball Program

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Barry Migliorini has been selected to jump-start the Golden West College women's basketball program for the 2019-20 season.

Coach Migliorini brings vast experience and knowledge to the Rustlers in his first season. He has previously coached at the professional, collegiate and high school levels where he coached the California Dream in the ABA. During his first season he earned the ABA's summer league rookie coach of the year and coach of the year honors after taking the startup California Dream to the ABA west coast summer league championship. Migliorini's player development skills were highlighted when eight players from the Dream signed professional overseas contracts.

Prior to coaching in the ABA Coach Migliorini was an assistant coach at Cal State LA under former McDonalds All-American and NBA player Steven Thompson. While coaching at CSULA College Sports Madness ranked Migliorini as one of the top 20 assistant college basketball coaches in the nation. Migliorini also has experience at the in California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) level. During the 2012-13 season he was an assistant coach at Cerritos College under current head coach Russ May to return the Falcons to the playoffs. Migliorini is very familiar with the Orange County high school basketball landscape as he has coached three different high school girls' basketball teams in Orange County over the previous 15 years, which will allow him to hit the ground running for the Rustlers.

Prior to coaching basketball Migliorini was a very successful track and cross country coach. His teams were nationally ranked for five consecutive seasons and 60 athletes had earned athletic scholarships under his leadership and four received All-American honors at the next level.

Migliorini was a student athlete at the University of Southern California where he ran track and cross country under Ernie Bullard and Larry Knuth. Then he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from National University.

Coach Migliorini has resided in the Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach area since 1979. He is active in the community having run for a city council seat as well as campaigning for multiple city council and congressional candidates as well as local candidates for Governor. Mr. Migliorini is President of Huntington Beach based BGM International and CEO of Huntington Beach based Wellness Matrix Group (WMGR).
