At the annual post-conference women's basketball coaches meeting, the OEC coaches selected the First and Second All-Orange Empire Conference Teams while also selecting a Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year.
Saddleback College's Janae Omusi was named the OEC Most Valuable Player. Cypress College Head Coach Margaret Mohr and Saddleback's Fentriss Winn were named Co-Coach of the Year.
Coach Mohr followed up her 2016 OEC Championship season with another title in 2017. She led the Chargers to an 11-1 conference record with their only loss coming at Saddleback. Coach Winn led the Gauchos to a bounce-back season, where they finished second in the conference and won 20+ games for the first time in nine years.
Omusi, an Iowa Western College transfer, was a game changer for the Gauchos this season. She led the conference in points-per-game (19.9) and finished fifth in rebounds-per-game (9.3). Omusi finished in double-figures in every conference game this season, including a season-high 35 points against Fullerton College.
