Riverside walks away with OEC Conference Championships

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Riverside City College clenched the Orange Empire Conference Championship title at Orange Coast College over the weekend. This is the ninth Championship in a row for the Men's team; where they scored 380 points - the second most in OEC conference history.  The Tigers had 10 individual conference champions and both mens' relays won the conference title.  

Orange Coast College finished in second with a total of 192 points. Justin Gibbons took home first place in the 110 meter hurdles (15.3) and teammate Bryson Crawford finished first in the 400 meter hurdles (55.54). 

Finishing first for Saddleback College's Men's team (third place in OEC) were Arik Nesbit in the triple jump with a distance of 13.99m,  Mitch Dixon in the hammer throw (58.71m) and Lee Mitchell in the long jump (6.79m)

Golden West's Daniel Hernandez threw for first place in the javelin with a distance of 57.39m, the host team took fourth place in the conference.

Representatives from the men's teams will be competing next Saturday, May 2, at the Southern California Preliminaries hosted by Cerritos College. The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, May 15-16, at the College of San Mateo.
