The Fullerton College Softball team earned several of the top 2021 Orange Empire Conference Postseason awards after taking first in the OEC standings while Santa Ana's Emily Rosas was named the Most Valuable Player.
Crystal Aguirre and Marian "Speedy" Mendoza led the Hornets to a 21-6, 21-5 overall record, helping Fullerton to its second consecutive OEC Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
The Hornets also saw the pitcher-catcher duo of Jessica Lopez and Alondra Natera win Pitcher and Defensive Player of the Year.
Lopez posted a record of 14-4 with an earned run average of 1.86 and 126 strikeouts while Natera controlled games from behind the plate as she threw out four runners in 15 stolen base attempts while recording 108 putouts and 13 assists.
Although the Hornets were the top team in the standings, Emily Rosas stood out as one of the best players in the conference and was voted the 2021 OEC Player of the Year as she led the Santa Ana Dons to a second place finish in conference play.
On the mound, Rosas was tops in the OEC with an earned run average at 1.51 and posted an overall record of 14-4 while striking out 80 batters. She also held her own offensively, posting a batting average of .358 with an on base percentage of .511.
