Santiago Canyon's Lisa Camarco Named OEC Female Coach of the Year

Head Softball Coach, Lisa Camarco, was named the Coach of the Year for all female sports in the Orange Empire Conference.

The award comes after Camarco led the Hawks to their first State Championship in the program's short 10 year history.

With an overall record of 41-9, the Hawks posted 44% of their wins by way of the mercy rule.
Several members of the team received major awards at the state level including an Academic All-American, 2 All-Southern California Selections, 2 All-State Selections, an All-American, as well as all 4 major awards at the State Championship including Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Pitcher, Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Most Valuable Defensive player.

Not only were the Hawks the best team in the state on the softball field, but they were also the recipients of the Orange Empire Conference All-Academic Team award with the highest overall softball team GPA in the conference.

Camarco has led her team to be active in the community volunteering with Little League's Challenger League where they host clinics for physically challenged kids, she has been a guest speaker at local league's opening ceremonies, and she has hosted several camps and clinics for youth players.

Camarco and her staff have also been honored with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association CalJC Coaching Staff of the Year award which will be presented in New Orleans in December.
