Cypress Goes Undefeated to Claim OEC Title

With its closest game coming in the season finale, the Cypress College softball team held on for a 3-2 win over Santiago Canyon College yesterday to seal their perfect Orange Empire Conference championship. The Chargers finished 21-0 in OEC play with just a handful of games being decided by two runs or less.

When all was said and done, Cypress posted seven shutouts against OEC teams while just four games were decided by two runs and only the season finale was decided by one run. This season also marks the 21st OEC championship for Cypress and it's ninth straight title.

Following Cypress was the team that nearly upset them to end the season, Santiago Canyon. The Hawks finished with a 15-6 conference mark as they claimed every season series, with the exception of Cypress.

There was a tie for third place with Fullerton College, Santa Ana College and Saddleback College all finishing 11-10 in conference. Next in the standings was Riverside City College at 8-13 followed by Orange Coast College (6-15) and Golden West College (1-20).
