Golden West Remains Undefeated

Riverside, Calif. - The men's water polo team survived and thrived in the extreme heat of the inland empire this weekend as they went 4-0 for the tournament weekend at Riverside City College.

On Friday, Golden West faced off with Palomar College and Cerritos College, with both games resulting in a 15-5 finish. Running the score up in both games, Rustlers' Joshua HuethLiam PatersonMitchell Holden and Ciaran Wolohan each produced a hat trick. Teammates Ale Valania, Botond Kadar, and Connor Paterson added at least 2 goals of their own, along with 6 other Rustlers finding the back of the net during the first day of the tournament.

Day two, Golden West met up with their long time worthy opponents from the north, Diablo Valley College. The Rustlers made quick work of their 11-6 victory thanks to Kenefick and Wolohan's offensive efforts of a combined 7 goals. The last game of the weekend found Long Beach City College up against the state championship team. Golden West wasted no time and was up 4-0 in the first quarter, finishing the Vikings 9-6.

Keeping the opponents out of the Rustler's water was freshman Taylor Miller, who produced and impressive 7 saves in the game against Palomar. Miller was ready to work when Golden West faced off with Cerritos and his total of 13 saves proved the young goalie has become a force in the net. During day two, Miller maintained his impressive stats with 14 saves against DVC and 8 against Long Beach City.

Next, Golden West will face off with Long Beach City again, this time in the Rustler water on Saturday, October 17th at 9AM.
