Rustler Defeat Long Beach City College

San Louis Obispo, Calif. - Rustler water polo finished another highly successful weekend on the road, as they turn their focus to conference play this week. The men faced off with some of the top teams in the state on their trip, returning home undefeated, even against the reigning state champion, Long Beach City College. 

Golden West's first conquest of the weekend was Cuesta College, in a 16-10 win over the host team. Bendeguz Toth led the Rustles in scoring 4 goals, with Ciaran Wolohan chipping in 3 of his own. Josh HuethFabio MendesGabriel GoncalvesKeanu MartinezAustin DeLaCarrera,Aaron Polk and Drake Dunn all found the back of the Cuesta net as well.  

The men were victorious over Ventura, 21-10, with Golden West having 13 different players scoring over the four quarters. Leading the scoring was Dalton Kenefick, followed by Goncalves.  

The most anticipated game of the weekend was the rematch of the two top teams in the state, Golden West and Long Beach City College.  Golden West defeated the 2014 state champions 7-6. The Rustlers went up by 2 going into the half, and despite a scoreless third quarter, the men held onto their lead until the end. 

The men will host their first OEC conference game Wednesday, Sept. 24th against Fullerton at 3:00pm.
