“A” Standard out of the gate

“A” Standard out of the gate

The Saddleback men's track & field team was in action this past weekend at the opening meet of the year at Bakersfield College.  The Bobcats had a handful of great performances out of the gate.

Daniel May had a big opening weekend, winning the javelin throw with a great fling in the opener.  May achieved the "A" Standard set by the state with a throw of 54.59 meters (179'1") in winning by more than 45 feet over his nearest competitor.  May's toss was a little short of his career-best throw of 57.34 at the Orange Empire Conference Finals last spring.

Joining May with top-5 finishes was a handful of other Bobcats.  Joshua Dubay was a second place finisher in the pole vault (3.65m) while Sean McEwen was second in the 400 meters (51.30).  McEwen wasn't finished, also placing fifth in the 200 meters (23.22).

Saddleback had a pair of third place finishers in Ja'Qorie Goodson and Alec Delgado.  Goodson was third in the triple jump (12.64m) while Delgado was third in the high jump (1.75m).

Ke'sean Goodson finished fourth in the triple jump (12.62m) while Jaeden Cornejo was fifth in the 800 meters (2:05.81).

Saddleback men's track & field will be back in action on Saturday at the Cuyamaca Invitational.
