Orange Coast captures Orange Empire Conference men's golf title

Orange Coast College captured the Orange Empire Conference title this season, winning three of the final four conference matches and never finishing lower than second in any match after the season-opening Tee-Off Classic.

The Pirates finished with 43 wins to distance themselves from conference runner-up Cypress which had 39 wins.  Riverside and Mt. San Antonio tied for third place with 23 wins while Saddleback settled for fifth place, just one win back at 22 victories.  Irvine Valley placed sixth.

Orange Coast's Myoung Kim posted a 1-over-par score of 147 during the Orange Empire Conference championship (73-74) to share the conference Player of the Year honors with Cypress sophomore Matt Rafter.  Rafter posted a 5-under-par 67 in the morning round of the conference championship then added a 2-over round of 76 in the afternoon to finish with a 3-under-par 143.  Both players averaged 73.8 strokes through nine conference matches.

Orange Coast's Bryson Bentley posted a 4-under-par total of 142 to win medalist honors at the conference championship.  He had a 4-under 68 in the morning round and an even-par 74 in the afternoon round.

Orange Coast, Cypress, and Riverside each advance as a team to the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship on Monday at the Bakersfield Country Club course.  Riverside won a tie-breaker over Mt. San Antonio to determine the conference's third qualifying team.  Saddleback sophomore Cole Griffo will advance as an individual as well as Mt. San Antonio sophomore Dylan Stone.
