Rafter & Bris Lead Cypress at Industry Hills

Cypress College edged a little farther out in front of the pack in the Orange Empire Conference standings after posting a team score of 365 on Monday to glide past Orange Coast (374), Saddleback (385) and the rest of the conference teams during the conference match hosted by Mt. San Antonio College on the Babe course at Industry Hills.

Cypress sophomore Matt Rafter led the charge with a 2-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors while sophomore teammate George Bris added a 1-under 70 and Andrew Thomson added an even-par 71.

Orange Coast had all six players shoot in the mid-70's, including a 73 by Connor O'Hern and a 74 by Taka Inoue, to continue to chase Cypress in the conference standings.  Saddleback, which has finished fourth in most conference matches, finally had a putt or two drop and ended up finishing third, just three strokes ahead of Riverside City College (388).  The Gauchos were sparked by Cole Griffo's even-par 71 performance while Jackson Blogg and Kevin An posted identical 76's.  Riverside saw Damian Quintanilla finish with a 73 to lead the Tigers while Brian Nielsen added a 74.

Mt. San Antonio's James Johnson also carded a 74 while Irvine Valley's Edward Costes led the Lasers with a 78.

Cypress leads Orange Coast by three victories in the conference standings while Saddleback and Riverside are both tied for third place at 11-14 with Mt. San Antonio is a win back at 10-15.
