Fullerton Rebounds With Victory Over Orange Coast

After a tough Orange Empire Conference loss, the Hornets picked themselves back up beating Orange Coast College at home Wednesday night 93-53.

Fullerton hit the 20-win mark for the 4th straight season since Head Coach Perry Webster took over the reigns. Fullerton's overall record now stands at 20-2 with an Orange Empire Conference record of 5-1. With the loss, Orange Coast is 3-20 overall and 1-6 in the OEC.

Falling on the road to Copper Mountain last week bumps Fullerton to No. 3 in the state rankings (San Francisco No. 1 and Mt. San Jacinto No. 2) and to No. 2 in Southern California.

Fullerton took an early 10-3 lead, but the Pirates got back in it getting within 2 points (13-11) at 16:29. The Hornets pushed back going on a 18-7 run to go up 31-19 by the 10-minute mark. From there, FC rode a 10-point cushion into halftime.

The Hornets entered the second half with a 43-33 lead and then kicked into another gear with a huge 35-14 run (78-47 by 7:08). With the game well at hand, the Hornets cruised onto victory taking a 40 point lead with just over 30 seconds left in the game.

FC's Lance Coleman II was impressive shooting 8 for 12 from downtown and was 13 for 20 from the floor. Altogether, Coleman II scored a game-high 40 points, a feat that has not been done since the 1993-94 season by Bobby Natoya. The all-time single game record is 51 points set by Walt Simon during the 1964-65 season. Coleman II is now tied for 9th in the Hornet record book with Natoya.

Jailen Moore put up 20 points for Fullerton. Omajae Smith and Rodrick McCobb both put in 8 points. Smith also contributed 10 assists.

Up Next:  The Hornets (20-2 overall, 5-1 OEC) will travel to Santiago Canyon College this Friday, February 1st. Tip off is at 6:00 pm.
