PIRATES POPULATE 2017 ALL-CONFERENCE LIST

IRVINE – With an incredible 12 selections, including Co-Player of the Year, Travis Moniot, Orange Empire Conference champion Orange Coast College headlines this year's selection of the 2017 All-OEC Baseball Team, as selected by the conference's head coaches at their annual postseason meeting on Monday night.

Moniot – a sophomore shortstop who came to OCC from the University of Oregon, batted .333 with 20 hits, 20 runs three HR and 15 RBI to lead the Pirates (31-9, 16-5) to the top of the conference standings. Thanks to a conference-best 22 walks, Moniot's .518 on-base percentage was tops in the OEC.

Sharing Co-MVP honors with Moniot is Riverside City College's Ryan Mota, who batted .337 with 28 hits, 20 runs, eight doubles, seven home runs and a conference-best 26 RBI. His .711 slugging percentage is tops in the OEC and his seven home runs tied Mota with OCC slugger Eric Wagaman for tops in that category.

Cypress College's Andrew Quezada was named the OEC Pitcher of the Year after going 4-1 with four complete games and a 1.29 ERA. Going up against the other team's top hurler week in and week out, Quezada allowed just eight earned runs over 56 innings with nine walks and 38 strikeouts.

OCC head coach John Altobelli was named the OEC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his 26-year coaching career with the Pirates.
