Scott Pickler Receives Coaching Achievement Award

ONTARIO, CA - Cypress College head baseball coach Scott Pickler was presented with the 2016 California Community College Coaches Association's Coaching Achievement Award today at the CCCCAA "Honoring Our Own" luncheon. Pickler was chosen to receive this honor for his years of service to California community colleges, Cypress College, his student-athletes, and the local community.

Pickler took over a struggling Cypress program in 1985 and quickly turned the Chargers into a respected California powerhouse. He has led the Chargers to five state championships (1991, 1994, 1997, 2003, 2013), four runner-up finishes (1996, 1999, 2004, 2007), and notched four National Coach of the Year for California Community College Award's in his 30 seasons at the helm. Pickler's 963 career wins and counting at Cypress College makes him the second most winningest baseball coach in CCCAA history.

With all of his professional accomplishments, Pickler's biggest victories and proudest moments come when he sees his athletes move to four-year universities or the professional ranks. 310 student-athletes have received scholarships, and 120 plus players have been selected in the Major League Draft. There have been 18 former Chargers who have been brought up to the Majors in Pickler's tenure, earning over $137 million dollars.

Please join Cypress College and the PE/Athletics department in congratulating Coach Pickler for his many years of dedication, leadership, and achievement on our campus.
