MEN'S SOCCER: HAT-TRICK IN A CLOSE ONE

FC's Eduin Munguia got the season going with a bang locking down a Hat-Trick at home against a strong Rio Hondo College squad. The Hornets fell in a tight 5-4 battle.

The Hornets gave Rio Hondo a run for their money as just last week the undefeated Roadrunners (3-0) knocked off last season's state champion in Cerritos College 4-2.

Six minutes into it, Rio Hondo scored the game's first goal, but FC bounced back at the 15 minute mark with Munguia's first unassisted goal.

The Hornets took 2-1 lead when Munguia kicked in his second goal of the game with the assist coming from Brian Pacheco.

The Roadrunners went on a tear scoring four unanswered goals (37:00, 39:00, 44:00, 69:00) to go up 5-2.

Fullerton did their best to fight their way out of the hole on Munguia's third goal on the day (82:00) with the assist by way of Ruben Navarro. In the 85th minute Brian Pacheco scored the Hornet's 4th goal with the assist from Alec Afarian

With time winding down, FC nearly scored the tying goal, but the ball hit the crossbar. On the rebound the ball was kicked and sailed over the goal.

Up Next: The Hornets (0-1) will play at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament September 4-6. They will open up with Mira Costa College on September 4th at 7:00 pm. On September 6th they will play Mt. SAC at 11:00 am.
