Cypress, CA. -- The Chargers dropped to last place in the OEC standings after falling to conference foe Riverside Tuesday night, 65-55.
In the first few minutes of the game Cypress jumped out to a 8-2 lead off a pair of 3's from Jerred Cook and Kevin Barnes. Riverside came back to take the lead though and the two teams stayed close throughout the rest of the half. At the break Riverside held a two-point advantage, 30-28.
The second half remained locked until Riverside took a five point advantage with 10:00 minutes left. With a little over two minutes remaining they had extended that lead to ten, and by the final horn that lead held at 65-55.
For Cypress, Jerred Cook led the team in scoring with 18 points. Kevin Barnes, Mark Townes and David Gonzalez all chipped in with eight points.
The Chargers drop to 2-8 in conference and 7-18 overall. They will next travel to face Saddleback on Friday (2/13). Tip off is at 7:30pm.
