Women’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten With 3-0 Shutout at Santa Ana

 

For the fourth time this season, the women's soccer team (5-0-2, 2-0-1 OEC) shutout an opponent, this time defeating Santa Ana (1-5-0, 0-2-0 OEC) on the road 3-0. With the win, the Chargers extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Jade Perez, who was assisted by Layla Silva, got the Chargers on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute. Cypress extended its lead to two after a goal by Laura Najera in the 27th minute when she connected on a pass from Jenny Marin. Silva got in on the scoring action in the 76th minute as she netted the final goal of the game after heading in a pass from Marin.

Goalie Paulina Serna had three saves during the game as the team out-shot Santa Ana 15-4.

Cypress returns home on Friday for a 3:00 pm contest with Orange Coast (5-1-1), who is riding a three-game win streak.
