SOFTBALL: HORNETS IN A DROUGHT

The Hornets dropped their third straight conference game on Thursday at Santa Ana College 1-0.

The loss lands Fullerton at 16-13 overall and 6-6 in the Orange Empire Conference. The Santa Ana win now gives them an 11-16 overall record and they now 6-7 in the OEC.

The two starting pitchers controlled the game as SAC's Hattie Marshall (3-5) allowed just three hits and Fullerton's Brigid Ruiz (16-11) allowed four.

The Don's lone run of the game came across in the fifth inning with Alexandra Hernandez scoring on a two-out single by Desiree Hernandez.

Fullerton's best scoring opportunity came in the first inning when the Hornets put runners on the corners before Santa Ana shut it down with an inning-ending groundout. Following that, the Hornets managed just one base runner past first base for the remainder of the game.

The well has run dry for the Hornets lately, as the last three games have only produced 1 run while amassing 9 total hits for a usually potent offense.

Up Next: Fullerton (6-6 in the OEC) currently sits in third place in one of the toughest conferences in California. They will travel Cerritos College this Saturday, April 2nd for a non-conference match-up at 2:00 pm. Then on Tuesday, April 5th, the Hornets will hit the road against conference rival Riverside City College on Tuesday, April 5th at 5:00 pm.
