SOFTBALL: IT'S NOT PERFECT BUT IT'S A WIN

The Hornets were able to get it done at home today beating Golden West College 6-3, despite committing 7 errors.

Neither team was able to score in the first inning of the game, but Fullerton managed to drop two runs in the second, third, and fourth innings going up 6-0. In the second, 2B Andrea Enriquez hit a shot down the left line scoring catcher Allison Smith and RF Alexis Pintado. The third inning saw LF Shaylynn Chapman hitting a sacrifice fly to center field scoring designated player Miranda Hernandez. Felisha Gomez repeated that hitting a SAC fly to left scoring CF Jillian Saiza. In the fourth, Brianna Guerrero singled to right center allowing 1B Celina Sanchez to cross home plate. Then Hernandez cracked a double to center and Guerrero scored.

In the fifth, the Rustlers crossed home plate when Kiley Eskridge hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field scoring Sammy Abrahamson for the unearned run.

After letting a couple of Golden West batters on base due to errors, the Rustlers scored two more runs to put a scare into the Hornets in the seventh inning, but pitcher Brigid Ruiz did her job in shutting down any threat.

Ruiz grabbed her eleventh win of the season and is now 11-5 overall with a save. She tossed 5 innings allowing only 4 hits, a walk, no earned runs, with 3 strikeouts. RP Evelyn Hernandez went two innings with 2 hits, 3 runs (all unearned), and no walks.

Up Next: The Hornets will host Santa Ana College this Thursday, March 28th at 3:00 pm.
